The beginning of the year is supposed to be the time when you reflect on the upcoming year and plan goals for what you want to achieve. New Year’s Resolutions serve the purpose of giving people something to look forward to changing in their life. For some, this is an easy task. However, for others it is hard to find the motivation to want to change small things about their lives. A study says roughly 12% of people actually follow through and complete their resolutions. In order to successfully complete your resolutions, make sure you start with a small, achievable goal. This way it is easy to complete it and you still feel satisfied with the change. Each New Year’s Resolution should be personal to you and what you need, but here are some resolutions that will help you grow as a person this year.
Organize your Finances
It is easy to drown in your finances if you do not keep up with them regularly. It is important to stay up to date on all your bills, and how much you are able to pay. Try making a bill checklist to keep track of what you are paying, and when things are due. Paying bills on time should be your number one priority every month. If you are unable to pay your bills on time, or struggle with them, you should reconsider some of your expenses. Try to cut out services you do not need or don’t use anymore. No, you don’t need that $20 gym membership you bought last year and only went once to. Organizing your finances is a great, small New Year’s Resolution that has tremendous benefits throughout the year.
Act Quickly
This is a very broad resolution. A lot of people are stuck in a rut of procrastination and “I’ll get to it when I get to it.” Whether it is that load of laundry, or that lightbulb that needs changing. Pushing tasks off is not a sign of laziness, but it can definitely lead to laziness to avoid doing whatever task was originally at hand. It is an endless cycle. Try breaking up your to-do’s into smaller tasks. This makes it much more manageable, and you are not stressed out from a huge project in front of you. This is the year of getting things done!
Take A Step Back
It is easy to get overwhelmed with everything going on. Between personal challenges, and the worldwide pandemic, this past year has been rough on everyone. Make your New Year’s Resolution to take a step back and access everything that is going on. If you are feeling defeated, find people that can help. For example, if you are stressed about finding a new place to live, contact a Property Management company and let them handle the stress. If you are anxious about money, sit down with a financial advisor and create a budget/income sheet and determine what you need to do to be comfortable. There will always be people available to assist you in whatever issue you have.
These New Year’s Resolutions are supposed to help you grow as a person, and help you pull out of that rut everyone has been in for the past few months. Studies show that people who have set a New Year’s Resolution are 10x more likely to change their ways. Even if you do not completely satisfy your resolution, any small change matters. Hopefully, these resolutions guide you into a great, successful year!
